The College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador

The purpose of the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador(CMTNL) is to set and enforce standards respecting massage therapy in the public interest. The CMTNL establishes standards for massage therapy practice and administers examinations in order to ensure that entry-level competency standards are met. In order to be registered with the CMTNL, massage therapists must pass registration examination.

The College is a non-profit corporation established by the Massage Therapy Act, 2005. The Act originally came into force June 2002 and the Newfoundland and Labrador Massage Therapists’ Board was established September 2002. A new Act was proclaimed in 2005 creating the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador. Massage therapy is also governed by the Massage Therapy Regulations, 2005.

The CMTNL is legislated to ensure high professional and educational standards for massage therapists. High standards of care protect the public.
