- avoid deep work over styloid process of the temporal bone
- no cross fiber frictions with anti-inflammatory medications
- do not use techniques that compress the mandible superiorly
- watch for latex allergies when using latex gloves for intra oral massage
- avoid using heavy, deep pressure during intra-oral massage
- no Passive ROM of mandible with history of dislocation
